Scott Turner's Song Publisher's Perspective
by Scott Turner

Scott Turner Song Domain

When I was heading up the country division at Liberty/UA Records, I used to get some very competitive material from a writer in Mesa, AZ named Jack Kavanagh. A few years ago, Jack discovered how difficult it is these days to get your songs heard by the right people so he started a monthly publication called SONG DOMAIN. Each issues 5-6 pages of producers and/or artists who are looking for specific songs plus there are some industry based columns that are very informative. The nice part about SONG DOMAIN is that you, the writer, can send your material directly to the source(s) and if there's a positive reaction, they answer you personally. Every listing in the "Pitching Post" section has the name and address of each person requesting songs. I'm not certain of the annual subscription cost, but I do know that it's not expensive, considering the information contained in each issue.

To receive further information, you can contact Jack at songdomain@msn.com or 1225 West Main Street, Suite 237, Mesa, AZ 85201.

Give it a try as I can honestly say it's one of the best tip sheets I've ever seen.
