Award-Winning Webzine Music Morsels Secures Trademark

For Immediate Release
January 25, 2003

Marietta, GA - One year after the process began, Marietta, Georgia's award-winning monthly music publication Music Morsels has secured its trademark from the federal government as a non-downloadable music industry webzine. Editor and publisher Sandy Serge states, "I felt it was a necessary move for us to be taken seriously in the internet community. There are other web sites imitating us, but we feel we have maintained a certain level of professionalism at bringing self-help information and advice to musicians, songwriters and professionals in the industry throughout the years. A trademark allows us more credibility and protection."

Music Morsels, published since 1995, originally launched as a print newsletter. As internet technology evolved, the publication expanded to an ezine and eventually to a webzine which is its most popular format to date. Music Morsels discontinued its print version a few years later and continued the ezine and webzine versions. The publication reaches close to 500,000 people in the music biz monthly on a worldwide basis thanks to the broad scope of the internet. Serge adds, "Our reach seems to spike and expand right after each issue is published. Our webzine is the most popular version garnering sometimes over 500,000 hits in one month."

Music Morsels, which won an APEX award for excellence in 1997, features interviews with national recording artists pinpointing elements in their careers that propelled them from obscurity to infamy. Also featured every month is an interview with a music industry professional; an interview with an unsigned artist/band; a monthly column by Nashville's renowned Top 20 hit songwriter/publisher/producer Scott Turner; CD, DVD and/or concert reviews; and a column listing music industry opportunities. Past interviews have included Rich Robinson of the Black Crowes; Doug Pinnick of King's X; Rick Allen of Def Leppard; guitar virtuoso Steve Vai, and session drummer Hal Blaine, among many others. Interviews are conducted by music journalist Mark Waterbury, a fifteen-year veteran writer in the music biz. The site design was created by Serge Entertainment's web designer Eric Jans. Most issues of Music Morsels have been archived on the web site for viewing.

Music Morsels is a labor of love for its publisher the Serge Entertainment Group. "Subscriptions to the ezine are free and there is not a fee to access content on the Music Morsels web site. We have some sponsors and advertisers who help us defray some of our overhead costs," explains Serge. "We offer worldwide exposure on our web site and in our ezine. Our mission is to provide Music Morsels as a tool to help musicians and songwriters. It offers valuable information that professionals and amateurs can utilize in the field of music to help them on their path to success."
